Flowcharting...

Creating flowchart sounds interesting isn’t it?

Well, that was our topic last time. We were taught on how to create proper flowcharts using MS Visio or a program in the internet. It did sound simple when we were just discussing it but the application itself made it more interactive and quite demanding. Every shape has its own meaning and purpose; you can’t just basically connect the lines and shapes based on how you’d want them to be arranged.

With the help of our imagination and the magic of our creativity, we were able to create our own flowchart on the voting process for the coming May election. Who would have thought that we could be socially aware while applying the concept of flowcharts? How clever and well-thought isn’t it?

As a first-time voter, I’m totally clueless on how will the voting the process occur. Will it be as easy as a,b,c or complicated like arithmetic? Everything was unsure for me when it comes to the May elections but the flowchart that we did last time, at least, lessen my worries for the election day itself. All I have to do is follow every step wisely and voila I’m officially done.

Here is the flowchart that our group did...hehe...

Web 2.0 and Social Media

Social Networking???

Well, everyone’s aware of the fact that social networking keeps us closer and updated with people around regardless of how far or near they are. It enables us to form connections and rebuild busted bridges from our past. SNS such as facebook, twitter, multiply, friendster, etc. bonds people with same interests and off course old time friends. It gives us the nuance of feeling connected with one another without moving from our seats. How convenient isn’t it? What makes it more appealing for most of us is the fact that it is very easy to manipulate unlike the old ways of writing letters or spending money just to know whether your friends are doing good or not lately. A single click on a certain tab made everything possible and hooked everyone to the virtual world created by SNS.

Last meeting, the reporters elaborated and opened the doors of SNS on all of us. Their presentation was inspired by a certain application in facebook which made everything a lot more interesting and easy to understand. What I like most with their report was their effort to change the lyrics of a song to express the ideas about social networking. Kudos to Group 5!

The discussion didn’t limit the social media’s capacity on just allowing everyone to upload pictures, connect with firends, etc. but instead it broadened the social media’s purpose when it comes to social interaction through highly accessible and scalable publishing techniques. Social media may play a big part in the field of communication but its significance on collaboration and multimedia is also undeniable. Social media allows multiple users to work on the same content, but at different times and from different places just like the idea behind Wikipedia.

Business also uses social networks for branding and marketing purposes. Most businesses in the web use SNS as their main market for transaction. Multiply is an example of SNS where people could transact their deals with their contacts by just choosing among the items and voila you already closed a deal with the opposite party.

Aside from social networking, they also tackled Web 2.0. Honestly, I’m not that familiar with this topic but with the help of the discussion, I could say that at least I know something about it. Web 2.0 are web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design, and collaboration on the web.

Web 2.0 and Social media changed our world in a major way. It made our life easy and revolutionized our basic way of living. I believe that as we go on, the development on Web 2.0 and social media will be much more drastic and unexpected. Just like what one of the reporters said as their tag line, the ideas for the modification of those application are ALWAYS OPEN.

Just the Beginning...

Gah! I never thought that blogging would be that beneficial for me, most especially when it comes to acad life...Who would have thought that through blogging you could gain some credits or points? Well, basically, it’s Sir Pabellon’s idea...hehe...He decided to use our interest on social networking to track us down on whether we go to class and participate during discussion or we just merely let the time fly without learning anything. Isn’t it witty and interesting?

Here it goes; I created this blog to jot down everything I’ve learned from the class, no matter how few or ample it is. I hope that, aside from its main purpose, I could use this opportunity to befriend and get along with my classmates. Awww...how cheesy isn’t it? But come on, it’s true.
